The battery in the E-Pick 3 can be changed with the appropriate tools, but it is permanently installed.
During development, we opted for a fixed battery, even though this is more expensive. The replacement mechanism introduces quite a lot of resistance and you lose about 15 to 20% of the potential power of the device.
Because of this, we decided to install the battery permanently and protect it. The battery has 2 boards for protection: overcharge protection, deep discharge protection, overload protection and more.
With a lot of use, our electrical engineer expects the battery to last seven to ten years with weekly charging.
The V3 has now been manufactured for 3 years and so far we have had to change a battery once in over 1000 units sold. In this case, however, the overload protection board had a fault and was therefore replaced free of charge.
